FileZilla, free and open-source FTP software

FileZilla is multi-platform FTP client. It supports multiple protocols, and has an easy-to-use four-pane interface. Feature-rich, easy-to-use, lightweight and best of all, FileZilla is free.

FileZilla works on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and even *BSD. It supports FTP, FTP on SSL/TLS and SSH FTP - all the protocols you would ever need. Being open-source, it has been translated to many languages.

It has support for resume functionality of large files (>4GB). It also sports a file transfer queue and successful transfers queue. It has drag-drop support, which means that you can say good-bye to old two-pane methods and just drag and drop whatever files you want.

Speed limits can be configured, which comes in handy when you are browsing or downloading. The network configuration wizard is a bit tacky, as is common to all FTP programs.

Possible improvements:

The interface is similar to any other application, and does not include any gradient effect or graphics. The grey colour is unnerving, to say the least. Also, the icons are quite small, and can be made of better quality and bigger size.
